Straight to Hades

I don’t think it’s any surprise that in this, the year of our garbage, 2020, we all need a distraction once in a while. And, surprising absolutely no one, I like my distractions with a heaping side of Greek mythology.

I’ve been have a blast playing Supergiant Games’s Hades on Nintendo Switch. The game is a rogue-like dungeon crawler where you die again, and again, and again… and again! All to uncover a surprisingly nuanced story and peel back the layers of some truly incredible characters. The art style is fantastic, the goals are compelling, and it’s casual enough to not feel overwhelming when the real world is on fire or when, you know, when the fury Megaera kicks your ass a dozen times and sends you crawling back to the lowest pits of Tartarus.

Of course, I obviously love that this game heaps on the delicious queer content Greek myth is known for.

If you’re into gaming, it’s well worth giving a shot if you haven’t already.

All graphics from this post were found on Supergiant Games’s page. I own nothing, except the overwhelming joy of getting to pet my giant, three-headed, big red dog in the only hell that matters.
